To get into schools, office buildings, apartment complexes and bars? To travel? To apply for bank accounts, housing, and schools? Can you imagine if your IDs had the wrong name or gender marker on them? Maybe you don't have to imagine, and that is what brought you to this site.
The Identity Documents Project is a project run by NYU Law students to assist transgender, gender non-conforming, and intersex individuals obtain legal name changes and identity documents that display the correct name and gender marker. Click below to learn more about IDP. |

The Identity Documents Project is a student-run organization, which depends entirely on donations by law firms and individuals just like you. All of our advocates volunteer their time for free, but we need funds to assist our community members in paying the fees for obtaining name changes, new passports, and such. Your donation can ensure that no one has to use an ID which misidentifies them simply because they cannot afford to update it.
